We designed the concept for a layered Japanese dining precinct.
Set in a heritage-listed Victorian warehouse in Sydney’s CBD, Prefecture 48 is a multi-venue Japanese dining hub inspired by Japan’s 47 prefectures..
Example led the full strategic and creative development — from defining each venue’s USP to shaping the visual identity and guest experience — across six distinct concepts.
These include a kaiseki restaurant, omakase counter, modern Japanese-European dining, a lively robata grill, a whisky bar (in collaboration with The Maybe Group), and a refined Japanese patisserie. Unified by a design language inspired by ukiyoe (‘the floating world’) and bespoke Japanese artworks, Prefecture 48 reimagines Japanese culinary culture through a modern, immersive lens.
