When Harbord Beach Hotel changed hands after forty years, Example reimagined the venue by celebrating its deep ties to Freshwater Beach—the birthplace of Australian surf culture.
The ground floor was transformed into a laidback haven for locals, from long lunches to sundown sessions. Next, Bombies, a ‘70s-inspired beach bar, will open on the second floor, followed by a recording studio and boutique hotel.
Example led the venue’s full brand evolution, from concept to branding, community engagement to PR. Harbord Hotel was named Hotel of the Year at the 2023 AHA Awards and has been accredited Ocean Friendly by Surfrider Foundation Australia.
